European Youth Hostels

My 19 yr old grandson and a few friends are going to Europe in June for 2 weeks. he would appreciate suggestions about good hostels -mainly France, Germany, italy.Switzerland, Austria. Thanks

They have many different hostel webpages, so try a search engine. A surefire way is to ask the locals when they get to the city. There is a hostel in virtually EVERY major city, some small ones, so it's not that hard to locate one. They should expect to pay about 15 Euros per night/per person.

Tell your grandson to pick up Rick Steves' travel book(s). He lists hostels in Europe and my son used his suggestions and liked them.

Rick Steve's books are great. If he plans to go to Gimmewald (which I would highly suggest) tell him to try the Mountian Hostel- it's so wonderful!! Tons of friendly people and so peaceful.

I would advise you to check the boards on www.eurotrip.com, which caters mostly for young americans backpacking in Europe. You should find many threads about hostels in various cities.
