european weather in sept?

hi! i will be in europe- rome, florence, barcelona, and paris (in that order) from august 29 through sept. 24 and while many guidebooks and forum posts i've read dealt with peak summer weather, i have been less successful in finding out what the weather is going to like in september - is it still warm enough for summer clothes or should i pack a sweater?

thanks so much!

Unlikely to be very "summery" on a late September Paris day (unless your frame of reference ios Montreal). the other places are far MORE likely (and earlier in the month. See www.worldclimate.com or www.weatherbase.com

Best wishes,

Rex

I'm sure this won't be news to you, but I think you have to pack for lots of possibilities. I leave for France next week, and the weather looks to be in the 70's to low 80's. BUT, as Rex points out, in another month it will be cooler.

On the other hand, I was in Rome and Florence last October, and it was quite warm the whole time (not uncomfortable, but still summery.)

You can check various online weather services, but your safest bet is going to be layers (how trite is that!). Even if you only have one of each, take long pants, shorts, skirts, sleeveless, long-sleeved and a light sweater. And rain gear. If worst comes to worst, you'll have to go shopping!

In both 2002 and 2003, I was in Paris the last week in Sept. I had a lightweight raincoat that I carried most of the time. Both times, the last couple of days were almost too warm, at least 75 degrees F. Of course, that doesn't mean it won't be cool when you're there! Paris weather can be very unpredictable. Have a great trip.
