European Travel Guide
My husband and I are tossing around the idea of going back to Europe next summer. We have been to England and Italy. My European travel guide is Frommer's from 2001. Is there a newer/better version out there? I don't want country specific because we're not sure where we want to go yet?
Thanks for any help you can give!!! |
I believe the latest version is 2005. Use your local public library's copy until you've decided on your destination.

The "things to see" don't change that much from year to year (some have not changed for millenia). The hotel, restaurant reviews change, but IMO are already out of date by the time the guide is published. Prices obviously change.
I use guidebooks to figure out where I want to go and what I want to see and the internet for hotels & restaurants. In other words, I would not bother until you have decided where you want to go, then buy a guide book specifically for that country/region. I like Cadogan or Blue Guides myself. |
Littlehouse - You might also want to visit your favorite bookstore to see what's out there in addition to checking out the library before you buy anything. Good luck!

Thanks you guys! I think I'll stick with the old guide book and then when we decide, I'll go get specific books for those places.

This is a wonderful book with 2 pages of pictures & narrative on every country you ever or never want to visit. It includes what to read and movies to see set in each country. |
Thanks wnab1q, but the link does not work. Can you just tell me the title and I'll look it up?
|
The book wnab1q was trying to recommend is "The Travel Book"
I don't know anything about it but here's a link that should work: http://tinyurl.com/hav69 |
Thanks G
I realized the link didn't work and while posting the name I lost my connection. |
Thanks G! I'll check that out!!
