o words.

dina4 Jan 6th, 2008 07:17 PM

oops

first name has 8 letters, last name has 4

grandmere Jan 6th, 2008 08:07 PM

Isabella Dusi?

If I'm correct, someone else take a turn. It's midnight here in the 'Burgh; time for bed.

dina4 Jan 6th, 2008 08:13 PM

Yes!

(was that too easy?)

grandmere Jan 7th, 2008 10:40 AM

I don't think it was too easy; I had to Google it. IMO, there's a fine line between too easy/just right/too obscure; it's not challenging if the answer is the Champs Elysees, eg, but something that folks have to research for 3 days becomes a little tedious. And what is difficult for one person is not for another. So, it's pretty subjective, and I think everyone tries to make choices that are appropriate.
In other words, you done good :-)

111op Jan 7th, 2008 10:54 AM

I think Google is my best friend for this game. :-)

Since it's no longer midnight in Pittsburgh, now you can give another clue, grandmere.

grandmere Jan 7th, 2008 12:27 PM

It may be midnight again before I think of another clue; if someone wants to jump in before I do, please go ahead. 111op,you probably have something at the ready?

dina4 Jan 7th, 2008 03:58 PM

Thanks for the encouragement, grandmere!
I'll try to think of another one if no one else jumps in...

A tree planted on by Girabaldi on the occasion of his daughter Celia's birth (1867) still stands in his one-time garden on this tiny island.

Which island is this?

1 word, 7 letters.

The last letter of this island's name is the A in ISABELLA.

111op Jan 7th, 2008 05:44 PM

I had to Google this one. It's Caprera.

Unfortunately I don't have so much free time on my hands these days. :-( Also I still need to plan my trip for next week.

So someone please feel free to take my turn. (Of course I'm assuming I got it right. :-) )

dina4 Jan 7th, 2008 05:58 PM

Yes!

I hope to visit there next summer!

111op Jan 8th, 2008 09:10 AM

Where's Caprera? What are the main attractions?

I'll give the next clue then.

Name the location associated with one of the most famous documents of all time. One copy of the document was recently auctioned at a record sum.

9 letters, first letter = r taken from Caprera.

Hint: There's a current thread on this location right now!

dina4 Jan 8th, 2008 10:46 AM

Caprera is a tiny island attached to La Maddalena off the Costa Smerelda in Sardinia.

Is the actual name of the place associated with the document?

111op Jan 8th, 2008 12:05 PM

Hi, I don't believe that the place is actually mentioned in the document, but I may be wrong. It's the location that comes up though when one thinks of the document.

As I said, there's an active thread on it! :-)

dina4 Jan 8th, 2008 03:06 PM

Is it Runnymede (magna carta)?

111op Jan 8th, 2008 05:16 PM

Yes, you're on a roll, dina!

A copy of Magna Carta was auctioned off by Sotheby's recently for over 20 million (I think).

dina4 Jan 8th, 2008 06:40 PM

someone else feel free to start one.

i don't have time tonight...

grandmere Jan 11th, 2008 10:02 AM

A popular movie, adapted from a novel of the same name, takes place in an area of a European country. The area consists of two words:6 letters and five letters. The second letter of the first word is the "U" from Runnymede.

This is too easy but keeps us moving along.

dina4 Jan 11th, 2008 05:25 PM

actually, not so easy on a friday night when i'm practically brain dead...

any clues on which country or which part of europe?

or maybe you can tell us if it's a current popular movie?

thanks.

grandmere Jan 11th, 2008 06:36 PM

Current, popular movie, predicted to win lots of awards.
