As I am reading the History of Rome, let's have a Roman theme. Three place names:

Place 1: "I've found it!". In this Italian town, the famous bather’s life was ended.
Eight letters. The A from Potato is the fourth letter in word

Place 2: An uncle by marriage of Julius Caesar defeated the northern invaders just north of this French town.
Three words (3-2-8), second letter of second word is the N from Ballinglass.

Place 3: Island of pleasure for the adopted son of an august emperor.
Five letters. First letter of word is first letter in Colcannon.
