Yes, except for one minor error. Legend has it that Ariadne was dumped on Naxos, of course ("Ariadne auf Naxos" -- the Strauss opera).

I'm sure that you knew it but were just momentarily confused.

Duh. Of course it was Naxos!

Clue:
This "celebrity chef" (7,6) from (region: 8) is famous for (kind of food: 9). In fact, his nickname(?) is Mr. "9" (of the above food he is famous for).

Recently, he teamed with this company (7) using his favorite food to make a line of non-edible products.

"n" is the 6th letter of the company name. "n" from Naxos.

I think that it's Jacques Torres for chocolate, and the company is Origins.

By the way, the rumor mill has it that his chocolates are not that good (well, comparatively speaking, that is). I've never tried them though.

By the way, I forgot to say that JT is from Provence.

Clue: He (2 words, 4, 12) is the latest winner of the (6 letters) prize, and the prize committee tells you that it's not because of the (3 letters) subject matter. The (nationality: 5 letters) (name: 2 words, 4, 6) was short-listed but lost.

Yes. The prize committee said that he didn't win because of the subject matter (gay life in Thatcherite England).

I've not read anything by Toibin or Hollinghurst though. I really should do some reading. I'll be more intelligent.

This resort town on the Adriatic coast (7) in (country: 7) recently hosted an international event (3 words: 5,6,12). The event (an annual event) was founded over a decade ago by (person: 4,6). This person is most famous for his entries (2 words: 9,6) in this newspaper (3,4,5).

I'm going to skip this one for now. My Google searches haven't turned up the right answer.

It's not as hard as it seems. Here's a hint: the clue is closely related to this game...

Oh, it's founded by Will Shortz? That's interesting.

He does the crossword puzzles in the New York Times (of course, I can't do these).

Yes.
If you listen you NPR's Morning Edition Sundays, they have a puzzle section by Will Shortz. I remember him calling from Croatia back in Oct when he was at the Puzzle Championship.

Interesting. I don't listen to the radio these days. But I'm attempting to listen to all the CDs in my collection. I'm a little behind though, and I've cheated a little. I've several hundred.

Clue: This pair of artists is usually identified as (7 letters & 6 letters, 6 letters, 1st letter of the 2nd 6th letter word = "c"). They seem to have one trick in their bag, which they use over and over. One of their projects involved the (9 letters) in (city: 6 letters).

Hint: The trick of the pair is a much larger scale of what you'd be doing to your presents over the next couple of days, if you celebrate Christmas.

This should be an easy one:

The building (3 words: 6,2,6) in (city: 6) reopened last month. The first production (2 words: 2,8) by (last name: 5) is also the first production ever staged at the building when it first opened.

"a" = 3rd letter of 1st word of building. "a" from Reichstag.

It's not La Scala?

Maybe La Fenice in Venice?

I guess Verdi's La Traviata was staged.

"Ah forse lui.... Sempre libera!"
