Europe travel - First time visitor
Hi folks,
Am planning to visit Europe in the month of Dec '16 from 23rd to 4th Jan. "We are two adults, planning for a Europe tour.. We have a budget €2500 for 12 days including airfare. We hope to visit France,Switzerland,Netherland, italy Austria & Germany,. We love art museums and taking photos of natural beauty. Is our plan possible? Any hotels you can suggest? Also i request you to suggest from which country to start with and end with. Roopesh |
Are you coming to the UK at all?

6 countries in 12 days? No your plan isn't possible, certainly not in December, with Christmas and new year and possible weather disruptions thrown into the mix.
Where are you flying from? Your budget seems low to include airfares, hotels and transfers. With 12 days I would choose two or three towns/cities to visit. |
Six countries is impossible.
For taking photos of natural beauty your travelling time is anything but good. Daylight time is short and you will have mostly bad weather. Furthermore, in tourist regions, this is peak season, so prices are skyrocketing from December 26 to January 4, and I am afraid your budget is too small, especially if you want to do a lot of travelling between countries. |
Not sure where you are coming from - so do't know the air fare - but from many places the air fare alone would take the vast majority of your budget.
Besides trying to get to way too many places (your max IMHO is 3 cities NOT countries) getting to more different cities will really drive up your costs. Even assuming you can get your flights into/out of europe for 500 each that leaves you only 1500 euros - or about 62 euros per day. This is about the absolute minimum living price on a budget/student level, with hostel beds in shared dorm rooms, lots of picnics versus sit down meals, walking versus local transit, avoiding more expensive sights, no shopping and very minimal nightlife. Also, you will have to take intercity train fares out of this - which I would allow at least 100 euros for - depending on how many cities you end up visiting. If you are coming from the US and have to pay about $1K each for airfare your budget simply is not doable at all. Suggest you check out Let's Go Student guide and other budget resources to find hint/tips on super cheap travel - so you know what you are singing up for - in the middle of winter. |
Going by train or car? Train would make more sense for a wide-ranging fast trip- for lots of train info check www.ricksteves.com; www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.seat61.com.

You originally tagged this for the UK but it looks like the moderators have changed it to reflect the countries you listed.
Your ideas are not at all realistic or practical. You want to hit SIX countries, in the middle of winter, over the holidays, and with a likely woefully inadequate budget. You say 'we' -- is that budget per person or for two of you or?? Even if it is per person, if you are flying in long haul the airfare is likely to eat up 1/3 to 1/2 of your entire budget leaving little to cover nearly 2 weeks on the ground. Plus trying to visit 6 countries means you will have .75 to one full day free in each country. |
I would guess from the name they are coming from India. It is not a reasonable budget of time or money.

Too many places, too little time, limited budget. Something needs to give to make this work.
