Europe River Cruises

Hi everyone,

My wife and I are thinking of taking an European river cruise this October. Is this time of year considered a good time?

Also, what is the typical demographic? My wife and I are in our late 40s and Canadian.

Thanks

Michael, what river? There are cruises down several. Friends of ours went down the Danube in September and December and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They are, however, retired school teachers and the gentle pace of river cruising and the low-key atmosphere appealed to them. They said there were several age groups on their cruises though it tended on whole to be an older crowd, but that might have just been a reflection of the cruise line they chose. Uniworld? I think.

BTW, your last name is my maternal grandfather's as well. It's rather uncommon. Far more Loughlins around than Loughmans. He emingrated from a small county in Ireland named Laois.

There have been several reviews for Grand Circle Travel river cruises. You should be able to pull them up with the search function.

try www.crownblueline.com for France.
We had a wonderful time in the South of France on the Midi.

It may be possible to rent a boat and do it yourself. We saw student parties on English rivers having a great time. Boaters often get to operate lock gates.
