Europe/Petrol/Gasoline
If we're paying over $2.00 per gallon here...and in Europe I remember seeing that gasoline is priced per litre...what is the current per litre cost of gasoline/petrol?
|
In Wiesbaden, Germany, the lowest grade is @1.18 euros/liter.
|
In Ireland it's about 95c per litre.
|
OK...so its 3.78 liters per gallon....
oh well...its a "funny old world".... |
In Austria, lowest grade was around 0.98 euro/litre. Note that 4 litres is slightly less than a gallon.
|
oops, sorry, missed your last post where you note the precise number of litres per gallon. Happy motoring.
|
Last time I filled (in Finland) it was 1.14 euro. Yesterday when I looked it was 1.19.

At present we are paying anything from 80.9p/litre up to 109p/litre, which equates to $6.40 to $8.63 per gallon at the present exchange rate of $1.74 to the pound.
However, this has to be tempered by the fact that most of our cars are not gas guzzlers. I have a 1.8 litre Ford saloon that averages 38 miles to the gallon and don't forget, the distances we travel in the UK are far less on average than you do in the US. Also, tax and fuel duty accounts for around 75% of the pump price here. If it wasn't for the fact that Iraq was so dangerous, that's the place to be. Before Saddam was toppled, Iraqis were paying 1p (0.5 US cents) per litre!! |
I also forgot to mention that we use Imperial gallons, which translates to 4.55 litres per gallon, around 20% more than the US gallon.
