Well is that really relevant? I mean, she could be busy. And it depends on how the original post was worded. For example, I don't think that I'd have written anything on this thread if I didn't see the bit about how Vietnam was somehow like "how the majority of the world live." Since I've never been to Vietnam, I'm willing to accept what she wrote about it -- that she found it "extremely dirty, noisy...." etc. But when she generalized, I didn't agree with her.

Well, Clifton, after I've read some of the comments on this thread, I'm thinking that you're giving the participants too much credit.
I'm partially joking, but I think the fact that there's argument is because people can't agree on what the original poster is saying -- or at least, are selective about what they're reading in the original post. Of course this is not really surprising either. Ultimately we make up our own minds about what's been said, and we're all entitled to that, within reason.
