I agree (as always) with Sassafrass.

I also disagree that London and Paris are similar. I've been to both many times, Paris way more often than London, but I find very few similarities beyond the superficialities that one finds in any large (or enormous, in the case of London) metropolis.

Perhaps all big world capitals are similar in some ways but I too find Paris so so different than London - can see few similarities really except both have a river - one a much much bigger river than the other.

I think Venice is way more different from both London and Paris... if that's the question or comparison.

Is this not a moot point? Is Paris not the "dream" and Venice to visit friends? I think the London question, called "curiosity", was a red herring.

Agree I wold stick with Paris and Venice (the latter to visit the friend). But I would do one more day in Paris and one less in Venice. Or fly from paris to Venice late int he day rather than early.

Venice in unique and charming but Paris is a much bigger city and has way more to see and do.
