Europe in late November ???

Going to Europe for about 6 days in late November. Firgured we'd fly into Amsterdam for a day then go elsewhere. Have a friend working in Zurich. She's not sure what to do in Zurich at that time of the year so we are unsure whether to stay there or meet elsewhere; Venice, Milan, Lisbon, etc. Any suggestions for good European locales in late November?

Last November I was in berlin, Prague, Bern, Zermatt, and Munich and believe me, there was plenty to do in all of them.

I think it might help if you could elaborate on what sorts of activities you'd be most interested in.

Good morning, Sue
Would pick Venice, however probably for four nights and then two nights in Lugano on your return. Might be lucky and get a stretch of less colder weather. Richard of LaGrange Park, Il

I don't know about LATE November, but Sicily was quite nice in mid-November last year. It was quite mild, with a few drizzly days, in most of the places, and cold and windy only in the Nebrodi Mountains. Mid-November was olice harvest time.

Of the places you listed, either Venice or Lisbon would interest me, because I don't enjoy Milan. I don't know anything about the weather in Lisbon in November, but I guess it might blustery. However, if you're prepared for the weather it might really be interesting to go there when there are not too many other visitors. I also don't know whether Venice is likely to start flooding in late November, but I'd love to go there at that time of year.

I can't tell from your message if warm weather is one of your requirements. Most of Europe is north of the US Eastern seaboard, so temps will be cool to cold in November. Take a look at weatherbase.com for historical average temps. November also tends to be rainy.

If weather is not an issue, then London always offers something to do, as does Paris. Milan would be good as well. Rome is a good choice as it is has the most mild winter weather of the cities you have mentioned.

Amsterdam and the countryside are also worth a day or two, lots of museums in Amsterdam and you can bike (weather depending) the flat countryside.

I live in Zurich and there is lots to do here as well, the city will be dressed for Christmas and the surrounding Alp countryside is very beautiful as well. We already have snow in some of the higher elevations around here.

You could fly to Zurich from Amsterdam for a 2 nights, then take the train to Milan, which is a very pretty ride and takes about 4 hours. You could also take a train from Amsterdam to Zurich, but even the fastest train would take about 10 hours. Take a look at Swissrail.ch for times and schedules from Amsterdam and on to Milan.
