Europe in February - any vacation ideas?

My girlfriends and I are planning a February vacation to Europe for a bachelorette party. We're 32 so we're not going to be too wild. We're looking for fun nice dinners, some sight-seeing, and hopefully some winery visits if the weather permits. We are considering either Nice and Provence, or Barcelona (and trips to nearby towns if possible).

Any other ideas? I thought Copenhagen or Stockholm would be cool, or Iceland, but it seems the consensus is to go somewhere a little less cold . . . Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated, thank you so much.

We were thinking of Nice, but then a friend who lived there said it's freezing in February and there's a cold wind. So now we're considering Mallorca ... We were also considering Cairo but this requires shots and we don't have enough time to get them. Plus it seems more touristy-signtseeing trip and maybe less ideal for a bachelorette.

We also considered skiing in Europe, maybe at Verbier or Chamonix. That also seemed too hectic but more due to all the luggage we'd have to bring, and the extra expenses of lift tickets and renting equipment. Hmm....

the thing is: we have frequent flier miles that we have to use by end of march. The only weekend that works for everyone is in February . That's why we have those kind of odd restraints.

You are cracking me up. I don't think Feb is going to be great in terms of weather anywhere. I rather like your original idea of Copenhagen or another cool northern city. Maybe you can get reservations at Noma.

hahaha thanks, well no one was replying so i thought i'd reply to myself, lol! Ok, well that's kind of what we found too, so we've decided to visit north Africa instead of europe. excited!!

Southern Spain would probably have the best weather of any country in Europe, although it still would not be very warm in Feb. A few days in Seville would be fun. I've been to Tunisia in late Feb. and the weather there was very nice, but unfortunately Tunisia is in the midst of political unrest at the moment.

I've been in Barcelona in February and while the locals were wearing scarves and gloves, coming from New England I was happy during the day without a jacket. It's all relative.

Nikki, me too.

February is a gamble no matter where you go. Think of what type of things you like to do inside. For me, that's art musuems. My pick is Paris.

If you like to do things outside in cold weather then go skiing.

Thanks again. Nikki and Julie, I think now the destination has changed back to Barcelona! Thanks for the tip!! I'm so glad to hear it's nice weather coming from New England / New York.

I think Barcelona would be perfect. There is so much to do there.

Thank you so much, Nikki! I love that report! I shared it with my friends, we're very excited. DO you have any recommendations for apartment rentals in Barcelona? Thanks!!

Amsterdam. The weather will be chilly and damp, but you have a coat and umbrella, don't you? The cozy cafes can warm you up in minutes. Try the Cafe Luxembourg and the Cafe Hoppe at the Spui, my favorites. The museums of Amsterdam are among the world's greatest. Take a day trip over to Haarlem, then go on over to Zandvoort to experience the wild North Sea and salt spray on your face. Jazz cafes are plentiful.
