I have vacation time only in December! I have a week. Where in Europe do you recommend and why?

Head for Paris or Germany, both very festive over the entire month.

Majorca. Because it's closest to the sun.

(Northern Europe? Think "Battle of the Bulge.&quot

We spent Christmas in Paris two years ago. And loved it. A good friend also had a great Christmas/New Year holiday in Rome.

I guess I should admit Paris and Rome are my favorite cities in Europe.

we were in Paris mid-december and then Italy on Christmas. Even though it was very cold (and even snowing at times)and raining quite often we had more fun in Paris. It was very festive and fun.

I've done London and Paris twice in the last 4 years in December. London is my favorite city, but I'd recommend Paris in December. I went a few days before Christmas in 2002 and was feeling rather depressed because of the death of my mother the previous year, and within hours, arriving just before the last hour of light, I was overwhelemed and felt so alive. Each day that feeling grew. The city is beautiful and not crowded. In 2003, did the same in December and it was even better. The days were 38-40 degrees F but clear and bright, not a cloud in the sky. The city is beautifully decorated.

Every year from day after Thanksgiving to two days before Christmas I go Nice area, then train up to Colmar,Strasbourg for the great Christmas markets and then on to a couple Germany cities such as Freiburg, Heidelberg, Nurnberg for the Christmas markets and finish up with 4 or 5 days in Paris. I enjoy this every bit as much as the time I spend in Europe in the warmer months.
