europe during xmas week
 

we will be in europe xmas week & the following week.any suggestions on where to go, what to avoid, what's open/whats not, where the weather might be comfortable, etc. any tips on europe (any country) during this time perid will be appreciated.

Germany before Christmas for the Christmas markets. England on the 26th for Boxing Day. Vienna any time.

Madeira for New Year's! It is fabulous!

It could be I'm missing out on something here, but I certainly wouldn't come to the UK expecting much to happen on Boxing Day - its main appeals are leftover turkey, arguing relatives, bad tv and queues for sales! Many things are shut (its a bank holiday).

I've got to second the above post, this is the exact description I would have given, this is why I'm reading this post, for somewhere else to go!
