So basically a free rider. If most people are vaccinated, she can't get infected from them but she herself won't contribute to achieving herd immunity.

Macron said restrictions already applying in the Paris region and elsewhere will be extended next week to the whole country, for at least one month. Under these restrictions, people are allowed to go outside for leisure, but within a 10-kilometer (6 miles) radius from their homes — and without socializing. Also, most non-essential shops are closed down.

In addition, Macron promised to speed up the vaccination campaign by giving access to all people aged 60 and over in mid-April, those aged 50 and over in mid-May and the rest of the population a month later. So far, France has prioritized people living in nursing homes and those aged 70 and over, as well as health care workers and people with serious health conditions.

Apparently Macron was urged to lock down in January because they saw the UK variant surge coming. But he ignored the scientific advisors..

Well they're at 11-14% for first shots right now.

Supposedly they should be scaling up production of the Pfizer and J&J and NovaVax may arrive within these next two months.

What is everyone’s honest opinion about Europe in Fall? Schengen zone. September (our hope) is still 5 months away. Is that enough time to get vaccinations much farther along? I read as much as I can but the news and travel board input is all over the place. At some point it seems like having a vaccination completed along with a negative PCR test right before travel, along with continued mask wearing will have to be enough, otherwise it seems like none of us are ever going to be able to travel again. Thoughts?

How do you know that the people flocking to “Floriduh” aren’t vaccinated? Have you’d been standing at the airport gates checking for vaccination paperwork?

Because the majority are young and have not been vaccinated. Spring breakers were everywhere. We did have bike and speed weeks but thankfully they left to go back home. We had a lot that came hoping to be vaccinated here but after Jan 20th that stopped.

Also, DeSantis is totally against any vaccine passport. Fl is wide open.

A lot of those spring breakers got infected in FL but they will take their cases back home and be counted in those states.

They are probably at least half dozen of them in each hotel room and then they go to other crowded indoor venues, yelling and getting drunk.

We have always been a bit blessed that we do have bike week during spring break as they price the college age group out. Sheriff Chitwood is on top of it here. They really shut down a lot of large venues. Bars and restaurants are fully opened due to DeSantis but many are making their own policies and spacing people.

You shouldn’t stereotype and generalize. Never a good look.

minnbeef, Do you live in Fl? I live here and my husband has buried two of his friends. We know many that have had covid. Disney and Universal were sold out for Easter and spring break. The workers were not given vaccines to be protected. Their union has been trying. We just were able to get vaccines for homebound clients last week. People that are well over the 65 year limit. The fire department is coming to client's homes. We have high risk clients and it has been a very long year.

My state wants to ignore CDC warnings and start cruises again. I want to be able to visit my NY family. I follow the rules so until it is ok to travel there without quarantining I will not be able to vist. Stereotype spring breakers? High school and college age young adults who party without a mask and crowd our seashore. I have lived here long enough to know who they are and Fl is not checking anything. Not sure why you are angry at me.

You appear to be old enough to have long been vaccinated so I am sure you also know that the CDC has said that fully vaccinated people can safely travel with no tests, no quarantine, no nothing. I am frustrated and more than a little p****d with people who want to keep living their lives in fear and yet expect everyone else to do the same. If you want to keep being afraid, stay in your basement with your mask on. Bur stop trying to deny others from getting on with their lives for a virus that is 99% survivable if you are under 70. And nearly 100% if you are vaccinated.

And get your vaccine for Pete’s sake already!

A death rate form infected cases of 1.03% is not "C19 is 99% survivable", it's "out of 100 people getting infected, 1 will die". This still is the case and it is by no means certain how long vaccines will "hold" and against which variants.

7000 cases on a given day? You're looking at 70 "already dead" people. Entirely preventable deaths too.

Minnbeef, I was finally vaccinated end of Feb. The county gave health care workers a day of their own after much yelling from us. We were getting hit hard. I am an essential worker and have worked through the pandemic and have seen the toll it has taken on people. No hiding in the basement and that comment tells me all I really need to know. I never said a negative word about the trip you took. I was very interested in the logistics but felt it was a risk not worth taking. CDC might say it is safe to travel but where I want to go they don't want us. London. Paris, Ireland are closed. NY and Vermont where my family live are closed to us unless we quarantine. I will wait for their sake. Easter Sunday and I am off to work.

CDC is probably refering to USA traval. Other countries are being more pensive. I'd not assume USA thinking (especially after the last 4+years) is always taken seriously across the pond, that is not to say Europe is right, but do be aware how badly 45 damaged thinking about the US.

Also, CDC is saying that vaccinated people may be low risk for travel, both nationally and internationally, but they are still not recommending travel because of the continued rise the number of cases both in the US and abroad of covid due to the many variants.

My sense of when I can travel Internationally from the US will be when vaccinations consistently go up and numbers go down both at home and at my travel destination. I think that is a fair basic way of making a decision to travel.

Forget Europe. That isn't going to happen this year unless you are a citizen or resident.
