Europcar Location in Chiusi, Italy - walking distance or not?

I have read on other posts that the Europcar rental office, located at Via Cassia Aurelia I, 82, Chiusi is only a block or two from the train station.

However, both Google Maps and my GPS unit suggest it is 1.2km away from the station.

I leave on Wednesday and am now confused if it is within walking distance or not. Further comments from those who have been there are welcome. Thanks so much!

Take a look at the map on europcar.com to compare.

Yes - it's very close to the train station. We've rented there 3 times. When you walk out of the train station, take an immediate right. You'll walk past a few streets (I can't remember if it's 2 or 3), til you come to Via Cassia Aurelia. Turn left, the Europcar office is on the left hand side. It's very easy. Hope this helps...it'll take less than 5 minutes to walk there.

dwzemens,
Yes, I have used Europcar in Chiusi. Yes, it is walking distance, about a block and a half. Dorkforcemom's directions are correct.

Thanks so much. For some reason all map software seems to show the address as over 1km away. Strange indeed.

Having just returned, I can indeed confirm that the AutoEurope office can be located by walking out the front doors of the station, turning to the right for two blocks and then one block left on Via Cassia Aurelia I. Just as described by others!

It was a snap to ride the train, rent the car, return the car and hop back on the train bound for Rome.

Thanks to all!

Grazie for confirmation---I am sure you meant the Europcar location as you had mentioned earlier.

Perhaps the Europecar office could be called the AutoEurope office if one rents from AutoEurope and they use Europecar in Chiusi?

Of course, unless you are renting from Hertz or Avis via Autoeurope.

Bob,

Thanks for pointing out my error --- I can blame it on being tired after a long international flight.

Yes, I mean't the EuropeCar office.

It seems to me we walked past the Hertz office only a block or so from the train station. I did not see the Avis office.

I actually used Kemwel for the booking and they placed me with EuropCar. No additional charges to my original booking with Kemwel other than a road tax fee of about $27.00 USD.

Just a belated followup: We rented our Fiat from AutoEurope in Chiusi. Easy walk from the train station. The rental went off without a hitch and we even got an upgraded car!

Just wondering what kemwel is. I've heard terrible stories about renting cars in Italy but we need one to get to our house in Panicale. Any good advice? I would sleep better and so appreciate help. Our trip is via train from France to Italy on May 21. Thank you.
