EuropCar in Munich with AutoEurope - new concern

Rental update from another thread...

Thanks to this forum, I called AutoEurope directly for car rental. I was able to reserve a car, same class as Hertz, only a slightly better rate.

Car will be through EuropCar at airport. New concern - that company gets horrible reviews. I would love to hear from those of you with recent experience with EuropCar in Munich through AutoEurope?

Haven't received the voucher yet from AutoEurope, but did get a voucher number. How long does it take for voucher to be received via email?

Thanks for all the help.

I usually get my voucher emailed to me within minutes of hanging up from AutoEurope.

I haven't done a Germany rental for years, but I've had dozens and dozens of EuropCar rentals through AutoEurope in France and Italy and never had a problem.

I've had an occasional problem with Europcar, but nothing that could not be fixed.

StCirq, a voucher within minutes? That certainly didn't happen.

I booked via telephone this afternoon, 6 hrs ago. I wonder if there is an email address error? They billed me immediately, that's for sure. I will call them and check on it.

Another question, their rate is inclusive of all fees for pickup at airport and any drop off fees, correct? We would only have to pay for an additional driver, if needed? We have CDW through the credit card, confirmed with credit card.

Thanks for your quick response.

Might be an email issue or might be they are needing some time to meet your exact specifications, but I always hear from them basically the moment I hang up the telephone.

I haven't picked up a car at an airport for years and years, so can't answer that, but that and drop-off fees should be clearly specific on the voucher (which you should read carefully). You do need to pay for an additional drive - I think that's 35-40 euros, but can't be sure because I couldn't drive on our most recent trip in September.

If you're uncomfortable with Eurocar, see if you can change location. I've always gotten avis.

I've always gotten my voucher within minutes also.

I've rented several times this year, all airport pickups thru AutoEurope and got a Europcar rental and have never had an issue. I book online and get the voucher immediately. Questions on what the rental includes should be directed to AutoEurope as no one can foresee what you booked and paid for. Generally if you book from an airport then the appropriate fees are included, ie CDW, airport fees, unlimited mileage, but double check. I usually pay additional to cover the deductible and additional driver. If you have the voucher number try to see if you can retrieve it from the AutoEurope website.

I just reserved a car yesterday through Autoeurope, who put me in a Europecar vehicle. I did receive the voucher within minutes. As Stcirq said-read the voucher. Mine does mention the possible fees that could be added-one was an airport location charge if you are picking up at an airport.

Odin, thanks for the idea... I checked AutoEurope website and can see the voucher. Still have not received it via email, however.

It does say "20% Location surcharge on local fees."

I will call them to find out what these fees may be. Like I said, AutoEurope was only slightly lower than Hertz and these fees may make it more expensive.

Thanks again for help.

Stop worrying about rental company reviews... you will find
millions of bad reviews on them all. The thing is... people rarely go online to rant about a GOOD experience and a hassle free rental is no doubt the norm.

I rented with Europcar in France through AE and aside from a disagreement about car classes at the desk (resolved in my favour by a quick call to AE) the whole process was flawless.

ParisAmsterdam, you are right. Thought about that yesterday ... Most folks are quick to put down a company, but not quick to praise.

What I do like is AE is on our side should anything go wrong. Thanks.

You should have received the voucher almost immediately so assume you have already called them.
As to Europcar at MUC...their rental center is HUGE so you won't have any trouble finding it. Last time I was there I had a rental through AutoEurope with Europcar and they were fine; had to rent a GPS at the last minute and it couldn't have been easier.
If you are returning your car to MUC be aware there is a 24-hour gas station pretty much on the airport property so you can fill up prior to turn-in.

If you haven't received the email confirmation, then check that the email address AE have is correct, it might have been misspelt or gone to a junk folder.

We've rented from EuropCar through AutoEurope several times with only one problem.

They added the fee for fueling the car on return and we had taken it back with a full tank. We faxed a copy of the receipt for the fuel to AutoEurope and the charge was refunded.

Now I always save the receipt after fueling the car.

We have rented through EuropCar a number of times with little problem. Like Judy, we had to manage the bogus fuel refilling charge once when we dropped the keys at an unattended airport office, but it was resolved easily.

Enjoy your holiday!

I do have the voucher after calling them. Representative was unsure why it was never sent.

We are returning car to mail rail station in Munich. We will ask for directions to return center when we pickmup the car and hope it is easy to find. We will be returning on a Saturday. Any experience with this appreciated.

In Germany there is a 19% surtax on cars rented at airports or train stations. I use Gemut.com Gemutlichkiet Travel in Oregon to rent cars in Europe. They give me the best deal and frequently an upgrade. Good luck.
