If you arrive early enough in Bologna, this bus may be convenient:

You can also take trains from Italy to Ljubljana, but you'll have to detour through Austria and connect there.

Hi,
You can use train from Bologna-Venezia Mestre-Ljubljana 5h 49', $80 each way.
http://www.rome2rio.com/s/Bologna/Ljubljana or by Florentia bus.

That Rome2Rio website is wrong, there is no direct train between Venice and Ljubljana, it was cancelled quite a long while ago. Your only option is really to get to Venice and then take a bus to Ljubljana or to take a shuttle from Bologna Airport to Ljubljana, it's operated by www.goopti.com
