euro2004

This is my first time to Lisbon and would like to have some travel advice and ideas.

1. will stay in Lisbon for 4 days to watch the match, what else can I do there? Would like to visit places with scenic view.
2. Will go to Barcelona afterwards, what is the best way of transportation ? By Air ? How can I buy tickets on-line?

Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

sorry - I don't have any advice on Lisbon, but I would suggest you try a search of the word "Lisbon" to find previous threads. Also, as this forum is primarily used by Americans, they may not be aware of Euro 2004 - so probably won't click on the thread. You're better off to have the place name (e.g. Lisbon/Barcelona) in the title.

Bringing your earlier message back up "to the top". You might not be aware tht you can find your old posts by clicking on your own name.

Best wishes,

For easy day trips, Estroil, Cascais and Sintra serve to be good choices because there are well connected to Lisbon by train, which runs frequently and takes only a short while to the mentioned places (around half an hour to Cascais, for instance). You can do these trips with base in Lisbon. Take metro to "Cais de Sodre" station in Lisbon, where you can transfer to trains.

If you intend to go straight from Lisbon to Barcelona, the best way, IMO, is by air. Train takes a lot of time, unless you want to stop in some places in between the cities, like Madrid.

What match are you going to see? I'm arriving on June 23. I will see 2 quarter final games (June 24, 25), 1 semi-final (June 30) and the Final (July 4). All my games are in Lisbon.

You have to be careful about assuming air transportation will be easy to find during the tournament. British Airways is actually substituting their regular smaller planes on this route with 747s during the tournament. I would make reservations as soon as possible if you want to fly.

Can't help you with any recommendations as this will be my first time in Lisbon too.

Here is a great site set-up by Euro2004 that has great info about the tournament AND sightseeing, hotels, transportation, etc.

Have a great time, I know I will!!!!
