euro visit in may-june

ello guys,
Actually I seek your suggestions as I am planning for an euro trip in the month of May or June.
My tentative itinerary is as follows

1) Delhi to Amsterdam
2) Amsterdam to Paris
3) Paris to Zurich
4) Zurich to Milan/Venice
5) Milan/Venice to Delhi

I am planning this trip for 11/12 days with 1 or 2 days i can add or remove .
I can plan to travel between early may to June end.
So please suggest which time will be best suitable for the above itinerary in terms of weather condition, less crowd, cost etc...
I am planning to travel with my wife along with my 3.5 old kid.
Any suggestions will be of great help.

By Zurich i mean, visit switzerland

you are going to get it on here......

you will be told you are visiting too many places in 11 days. At least given they are big cities in different countries and far apart.

so the suggestion will be to change your itinerary. In reality, it isn't horrible if you drop Zurich (why do you want to go there, anyway?) and your Milan/Venice means only one of those two.

3 days Amsterdam, 4 in Paris, rest in Italy, and a couple days counted as travel days in-between these places would work.

if you really really want to do Zurich in the middle, sure you can, you could do 3 Amsterdam, 4 Paris, 2 Zurich, 3 Milan or Venice.

I'd go in June myself. But either May or June would work, May just has several holidays to deal with. Cost won't be affected except by airfare, so that you can check (and likely it won't change between those times, but it's possible very early May is cheaper). I doubt if crowds are going to be that different in those time periods, sure, I suppose June may have slightly more tourists.

I assume seeing the alps is your priority in Switzerland, yes? If so, you should visit Lauterbrunnen rather than Zurich. It's about 3 hours by train from Zurich.

Especially with a 3.5 year old you can't rush from one sight to the other. Assuming that you are keeping the open jaw concept, leave out Switzerland and fly from Paris to Venice to save time; 3 cities will be the maximum, particularly if the time given includes the flights to and from Delhi. Fly out of Venice, again to save the time it would take to check out of the Venice hotel, get to the train, travel to Milan, get to the hotel, and the next morning fly out of the airport--unless you somehow are able to get to Milan on the same day as your flight leaves.

Forget this and redo the whole plan. You need two hubs and take daytrips from there. The kid won't handle your current itinerary.

YOU CANNOT TRAVEL WITH SMALL CHILDREN AS YOU WOULD WITH JUST YOU AND YOUR WIFE.

"YOU CANNOT TRAVEL WITH SMALL CHILDREN AS YOU WOULD WITH JUST YOU AND YOUR WIFE."

Sounds like a dare to me!

anyway trains are the way to go wherever you go as you are going to cities - great resources for trains - www.budgeteuropetravel.com; www.ricksteves.com and www.seat61.com.

Yes in 11 days no more than 3 bases - takes a day to go between each.

So from the suggestions it looks like, i have to leave at-least one county.
So may i ask should i skip Amsterdam or Italy ?
Assuming Paris and Switzerland is must visit.

Any more inputs on traveling in May or June?

The earlier the better. Drop Amsterdam. I'd even drop Italy. If your musts are Paris and Switzerland, then visit Paris and Switzerland in the short amount of time you have.

PalenQ Jan 13th, 2017 11:53 AM

Yes drop Amsterdam then you have three ducks in a line you can hit by train -but dropping Switzerland or Italy would make then a still fast-paced but doable trip.

Less can be more - more or less!
