< The Ko (with two dots above the o) >

If you don't have the time to write the "ö" (find the character set!) just write "oe". Actually, in German, the "oe" was the original way to write it. Gradually, the "e" was written on top of the "o" and eventually, the "e" was reduced to two dots.

Hence, "Koenigsallee" is a correct way to write "Königsallee" and "Duesseldorf" is equally correct as "Düsseldorf". BTW, the Düssel is a small creek that originates in Wülfrath.

I thought we'd already had #21? Shouldn't this be 22?

Does anyone really care? Probably not.:)

I CARE! And what a mistake - thanks for pointing out and hope you find a cure for your obvious boredom - this is mine!

BTW: Migros bought the Denner stores chain (8 years ago). Denner makes about half of it's turnover (3.5 billion USD) with the sale of alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, spirits).

Wormwood Scrubs, by the way. Still, as far as I know, not gentrified.

PalenQ Jan 2nd, 2015 12:52 PM

Pvoyageuse wins the grand championship today!

Bravo; formidable; incroyable?

though Wiki did say something about the south side of Notre Dame's front.

annhig Jan 2nd, 2015 12:53 PM

just round the corner from the Scrubs used to be a weird government building called the Bromyard, and nearby was a collection of nissan huts aka Acton Crown Court.

That was 30 years or so ago - i wonder if it's still there.

Pal - you appear to have two Q3s:

3- A few miles outside Cork is this world-famous castle?

3- Bunol, Spain (near Valencia) stages this popular but messy festival on the last Wednesday of Augustr each year.

3a) - Blarney Castle.

3b) - see above.

TheBigMan Jan 2nd, 2015 11:36 PM

No 8 should be Lizard Point (most southerly point in England) to Berwick (most northerly town in England) but that's only 545 miles.

quokka Jan 3rd, 2015 01:13 AM

6 - Migros

You're from the UK and should know better. Where was Britain mentioned in the original question?

annhig Jan 3rd, 2015 01:35 PM

it's not I that should know better but PalenQ - he has made the usual american's error of using "England" when he means Britain - how else to explain the reference to 874 miles?

PalenQ has actually confirmed that's what he meant in the post below mine - keep up!

Percy Jan 3rd, 2015 02:18 PM

annhig.

What's the prize I was hoping chocolate cake or a bottle of wine or a Big Mac!!!

annhig Jan 4th, 2015 02:41 AM

well Percy, you're welcome to as many Big Macs as you can eat but for the sake of your health I won't be buying them for you!

I'll be happy to send you a [virtual] bottle of champers but as it's Pal's quiz, i think he should be doing the buying, don't you?

Percy Jan 4th, 2015 07:28 AM

Thanks annhig.

Okay I am waiting for the prize PalenQ ! :)

PalenQ Jan 4th, 2015 09:01 AM
