3. Tintagel

4. Uh... Delft? (If so, consider posing the question in a way that doesn't give away the answer!)

Amsterdam is on the Amstel, it's cruise port is on the Ij, which is not a river. It's main port is linked to theses by the Noordzeekanaal.

Eindhoven is home of Philips. PSV used to be the Philips Sort Vereniging, or Philips sports club.

You rather blew the Porceleyne Fles question. Where would you find Koninklijke Tigchelaar? That is a more interesting question.

"no one has answered # 1 yet"

Hey, I did !

PalenQ Jan 1st, 2015 07:16 AM

Sorry about that yes of course you answered but incorrectly so I should have said "no one has answered number 1 correctly - being pedantic?

Pvoyageuse Jan 1st, 2015 07:28 AM

Not at all, PalenQ and you are allowed to say I am an ignorant.:-)
Copenhagen?

annhig Jan 1st, 2015 08:25 AM

sorry, I missed that no-one had answered the one about the Brocken. remiss of me since we too the train up there in September.

and of course the Seat of King Arthur [or not?] is Tintagel.

but how many of you know how to pronounce it?

PalenQ Jan 1st, 2015 09:24 AM

"Tintagel" good query about pronunciation - let me try (and I've been there but don't remember!)

"Tin-tah-gul" ???

annhig Jan 1st, 2015 10:09 AM

Close, Pal.

Tin-TA-jel [as in jelly] with the stress on the 2nd syllable.

PatrickLondon Jan 1st, 2015 01:34 PM

10 is Eindhoven

PatrickLondon Jan 1st, 2015 01:39 PM

PS: Tintagel ("a" as in "hat"): there was a documentary series on castles on BBC TV recently, and the presenter/academic argued that Tintagel, though built when castles were the established means of exerting power and control, couldn't have been meant to be a fortress, but even then was built for its symbolic and legendary value.
