3- The Borders Abbeys in the U.K. and name 3 border abbeys?

Sir John Sloane - in a leafy part of South London?

5- The home town of Pinnochio?

6- The home of the Michelin Company - city known for its nearly black stones in its cathedral?

7- The place where the Magna Carta was signed? Not just the name but where is that place?

8- Italian town whose historic center is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site - for a long time a long time ago ruled by the Gonazaga clan?

9- The Porta Negra - or Black Gate - extant from Roman times and one of the most intact Roman relics north of the Alps.

Cheers!

3 and 4 down - two abbeys are good enough - Dryburgh would be another.

Collodi it tis! (though maybe others claim it - Collodi bills itself as the home of Pinnochio and treads a lot on it to make an ordinary, for Italy, hill town, an attraction - just in the hills above Lucca.

8 and 10 still to go - thanks all for your interest!

#8 is indeed Mantua- a city that seems to get little play on Fodor's but should be considered by many - exceptional and the lake is neat too.
