there are actually some merchants and establishments in Prague which will accept the Euro. However, you'll receive your change in the local currency (Czech Crowns) and who knows what sort of exchange rate you'll get.

Hi Deb,
In the Czech Republic they use Koruna. You can get them from ATM machines. ((I)) |
Dukey's post above reminds me something I read on Prague Forum on Tripadvisor.com, a post by a "local experts" living in Prague. It said, the Tesco store at Narodni street accepts payment in € and returns the change in Kurona BUT since their rates is so good, people who know that go there, pick up a small item and pay it with Euro bill to get Kurona. Maybe they don't want to accpet too big a bill but I might try it with € 20/50 bills, in 2 weeks when I will be back in Prague.

Just to clarify, Tesco's good rate is really an exception, it seems. You should expect lousy rates at all other places where € is accepted.

Was in Budapest and Bratislava right before Christmas and they accepted Euros and Dollars.
