We have been to disneyland in California 3 times with the kids. Is it worth the money and effort(middle of July) to take them to Euro-Disney in Paris? They are 9, 13 and 16 years old and speak limited French!

Most definately not. Let your children experience the real Europe. PLEASE give them a real education about the world. The real world is not sanitized, glamorized, and Americanized for your protection.

I guess I should mention that we are renting a motorhome in Rome for 5 weeks and travelling via Paris back to Venice. So we'll get alot of European culture along the way. Just thought it might be fun to compare!

When you ask this question, it is because you also want to go there. <BR>Allow your kids some fun! Disneyland Paris (Eurodisney is the old name)is different from the American parcs. Your kids don't need to speak French, all the cast members speak Enlish too.<BR><BR>You will have the choise between the Disneyland Parc and the Studio's. The incomeprice is the same, but the studio's are smaller and there is not much to see. Choose the Disneyland Parc (your Magic Kingdom), that is the best. In July the parcs are open untill 11pm and every day ends with fireworks. <BR><BR>www.disneylandparis.com

One of the great things about traveling is seeing how &quot;they&quot; do things differently from &quot;us&quot;. I think Disney would be another great comparison. I don't have kids to take, but keep thinking one of these trips to Paris I'm going to take in Euro Disney. I just think some people are negative because they see it as being too &quot;American&quot;, like eating at a McDonald's or wearing tennis shoes. I say you're there for your enjoyment so if you would enjoy it then go. The kids knowing a little French should help their enjoyment greatly!<BR><BR>If you said you were going to Paris just for one day or two and wanted to spend a day in Disney, my opinion would probably be different, but after traveling in Europe for five weeks? Go for it.

I grew up spitting distance from Disneyland and had heard the Disney Paris was the closest in terms of beauty. It is nice-lots of trees, and the rides are just enough different. I should warn you, some folks do not line up so you need to watch out for that. The announcements were in several languages and it was funny seeing/hearing characters sepaking French/German/Italian.

Thanks for the info. My kids speak a little French and it sounds like fun so I think we'll go for it!

Although I'm not a big Disney fan (I find people wearing big plastic mouseheads just weird), it's your vacation, your time, your money. If you like Disney stuff, then I agree that it would be interesting to compare the French Disney experience. I wonder if your children will be able to buy wine there?<BR><BR>Anyway, one of my great joys of travel is to compare ordinary, everyday experiences--grocery stores, department stores, gas stations, etc. I really like seeing how peoples around the world approach the same basic processes in different ways.

Disneyland Paris is great. As for people not lining up, weell they have the Fast Pass on a lot of rides as well as parentswitch on all (when you have small children or ones that are not big enough for certain rides, one parent can go and then the next goes without waiting in line).<BR><BR>Check out http://www.dlp-guide.com/ as it is the best site on DP (lots of inside information on what to see etc.)<BR>Have fun!
