Euro Currency
Looking for info re Euro currency and exhange rates. Do ATM's issue cash in Euro, or what? Do most hotels, restaurants, etc take the Euro?
Help, please.
|
www.xe.net for all the exchange info yu could ever want.

And yes, for the 12 participating countries - - http://www.twenj.net/euro.htm - - the transition to the euro is well under way - - well over half way to being completed.

The ATM's will certainly issue euros; any business establishment was ready for euros on January 1 - - and in most countries (some have already passed), the deadline for taling their "old" national currencies is nearly at hand.

Best wishes,

Rex
Rex, to say that "transition to the euro is well under way" is an understatement. Here in the Netherlands it is 100% completed, and in most other eurozone countries it is more than 90% completed. From now on, think euros and forget about the old currencies.

Not sure where you are going Dave but Euro's are everywhere! ATM's, cabs, restaurants, cafes. Everyone takes it because it is the new currency, all change will be given in Euro and your credit card will be charged in Euro.

Thanks, Sjoerd - - I was trying to understate. 100% is a strong statement - - is it true that gathering uo currency and exchanging at the bank is THAT far along? I figured that with the banks having to take them for years, they might somewhow linger a bit beyond the deadline for commercial establishments.

You know, I cannot imagine this happening in the United States. why can't we set aside two months and turn in all our twelve-inch rulers for meter-sticks? Or you know what I mean...

It goes to show - - money - - it's just a piece of paper. A bank doesn't store money - - it just stores information about money.
I am from Finland, and I would also say that transition is 100% completed. ATM´s gave nothing but euros since 1st of January, and I have not even seen a markka after first week of the year.
