Euro coffee lovers: Where to buy beans in A'dam and Cologne.
On every trip to Europe I come back with several bags of coffee beans, usually Cafe Malongo from Paris. Does anybody know where to get good coffee in Amsterdam and Cologne?

Don't have specific suggestions, but I recall reading a few recs in StyleCity Amsterdam. If you can get a copy of that, flip through for the recs -- they may be duplicated in TimeOut though.
I don't drink coffee regularly so it's not something I pay attention to.
Have fun.

Tchibo is a chain of German coffee stores and their coffee is pretty good, although they stopped making our favorite, the Elegant Blend. There are several branches in Cologne.
Go to: http://www.tchibo.com/shops/tccom_504VP.do?show=51
for the addresses/phone numbers of all their coffee shops in Cologne. You could try a cup before you buy.
Some non Tchibo stores also carry the coffee, but it's not always fresh. The best bet is to get it at their own coffee bars.

I always go to Geels & Co at Warmoestraat 67.
Simon Levelt is a good chain with branches at Prinsengracht 180, Kinkerstraat 109, Ferdinand Bolstraat 154, and Stationsplein (Centraal Station).
Good bean-hunting!

Kutya: Geels & Co
I'm pretty sure that this is recommended by StyleCity (even though I've the book at home and can't look).
I remember quite well that one coffee rec in that book is on Warmoestraat (sp?) (even though, as I said, I don't drink coffee).

Let me add to this: I think by far the best coffee beans you can get in Amsterdam are from the Golden Coffee Box (Boot koffie). They sell the beans at Patisserie Kuyt in the Utrechtse straat and at Unlimited Delicious in the Haarlemmeerstraat. They also use golden coffebox at the cafe in the Hortus so you can sample the coffee there. I can really recommend them! I love coffee and when I'm not bringing back coffeebeans from Italy I always get these.
