Euro 2008

We're looking into attending Euro 2008 soccer games in Klagenfurt between June 11-17. I've been told accommodations are filling up fast and that Graz is a good alternative. We haven't been to this part of Austria and are wondering if this is a good choice for lodging and transportation for this VERY busy event.
Anyone know of a reliable source for Category 3 tickets? I haven't used sport ticket agents before. I know some tickets within various countries will become available in January. Any ideas?

been to both Klagenfurt and Graz and for my money i'd rather be staying in Graz

both are pleasant - Klagenfurt is on a lake i think but Graz is one of the Austro-Hungarian empire's grand dame old cities.

Very pleasant natural area for both - hills, lakes, forests, etc.

But if Frequentflier wants to see a game then staying in Klagenfurt, where the matches take place makes sense. However seeing it is the base for the German team tickets may be hard to get for third parties - you really need to read the rules on the official site to see what is possible.

With average stadium capacity of 30,000 and a third of tickets going to sponsors, football associations, VIPs etc, only 10,000 are available to ordinary fans. With the ease of access (just a few hours' drive for many), getting ticket for any match will be a tall order. Only a small portion of 10,000 will be made available to neutral fans, which will be allocated by ballot to those who apply.

Thanks for the input. Looks like lodging is the easy part. Graz sounds very interesting.

Should have thought about game tickets a long time ago!

Well, now I've seen everything.

Does this bloke have a brother taking odds on whether Queen Anne's dead?
