eurailling in italy
three friends in their early 20's are eurrailling in Italy this July - Rome, Florence and a beach? Any recommendations on where to stay and what beach?
|
The Ligurian coast would be close to Florence. I like Rapallo and Santa Margherita Ligure. These areas are busy with Italian tourists in July so they should plan well in advance.
|
What do you mean by "eurrailing?" I hope they're not getting a rail pass for just those destinations. Plain old point-to-point tickets would almost certainly be cheaper.
|
There is no such thing as Eurail. that is simply a company in the US that resells rail passes. Saying you're eurailing in europe is like saying you're american expresing in europe - it has no meaning.
And certainly individual train tickets would be MUCH cheaper than any sort of pass. |
Hi dd,
You do NOT want to buy passes for such a short trip. Schedules and fares are at http://www.trenitalia.com/cms/v/inde...0080a3e90aRCRD ((I)) |
It is RailEurope in the US..the SNCF/SBB marketing arm for North America and they do not RE-sell passes..they SELL them and the prices for passes are FIXED by the participating railways, NOT by RailEurope and I say all this for the sake of the accuracy POLICE, many of whom are already ON this thread.
I agree that a pass isn't necessary nor is buying any point0-to-point tickets in advaNCE depending ON: how far in advance they will BE in Italy before needing their first rail ride and which services (Eurostar vs. others) they might want to use. |
Wish we had known..you could have deplaned, taken your luggage, gone sightseeing and then taken the train to Rome
