EURAIL PASS - SHOULD I BUY with this itinerary?
For the experts.
The Eurail Italy-Spain pass for the kids and I is $637, 4 days in 2 months 2nd class.
I have a couple of longs trips, one overnight, Over night and Ferry.
Please help me see if I should buy the Pass or point to point txts only.
Can I also just hop on the trains as we are in 2nd class not 1st?
Lisbon to Lagos
Lagos to Lisbon
Lisbon to Donostia - O.T.
San Sebastian to Barcelona
Barcelona to Genova - Ferry
Genova - Rapallo
Rapallo - Naples Sorrento
Sorrento - Rome
Rome - Como
Como - Zurich plane to Denver

Hi pooky,
The railpass is good for trains that do not require reservations.
At www.railsaver.com click "only if it saves money". If it says "no", you can trust it.

www.railsaver.com
I tried to use it and it shows that I should buy two passes, but not for my son. When I click buy passes it doesn't proceed, so I'm confused.

ribeirasacra,
On those threads I didn't have my final itinerary as I didn't have a return ticket, now I know I'm coming back from Zurich and I'm still confused as different sites give different prices, sometimes $200 difference.
This is what railsaver says
nico Ticket(s) $266.25 n/a
maria Eurail Italy - Spain 5 Day 2nd Class Adult FlexiPass Companion/Saver $316.00
Ticket(s) $72.00 n/a
mia Eurail Italy - Spain 5 Day 2nd Class Adult FlexiPass Companion/Saver $159.00
Ticket(s) $72.00 n/a

compare the Spain-Italy pass with the 4-country Eurail Select Pass good in Portugal, Spain, Italy and Switzerland - a 4-country combo you can do because Italy and Spain are linked by boat (The Eurail Select Pass has you select up to five countries that ordinary one has to touch another and that one touches another - thus you may think you'd have to have France on that pass but you do not because Spain 'touches' Italy in this case because they are linked by boats honoring railpasses for the discount.

pookymimi - on the other thread i failed to notice you were traveling also in Portugal and Switzerland - not much but still - but still the Spain and Italy pass, much cheaper i think than the 4-country Eurail Select Pass because even folks over 25 can buy second-class whereas on the Select Pass if over 25 you must buy a first-class pass (which IMO has huge benefits over 2nd class, but....)
Trains in Portugal are really cheap and the fare from the Italian border to Zurich won't break the bank either so the Spain-Italy plus point to point tickets elsewhere could be the most cost-effective pass. And the key point of a pass is that you can decide as you go along what trains you want to take - Spain sells online discounts (though the RENFE site seems a real B to use from Fodorites complaints) but those are non-changeable non-refundable.
