Ethiopian airlines

Does anyone have experience flying with Ethiopian Airlines? I am thinking of taking a flight from Sweden to Rome with them?? Ryan Air is cheaper but the airport used is CIO and FCO is better destination for me in Rome. Mary

Ethiopian is considered to be one of the most reputable airlines in Africa with one of the most modern fleets. Surprising for such a poor country, but they make a lot of profit by doing mostly east-west flights in Africa while all of the other airlines are going mostly north-south.

I haven't flown them for several years, but flying from Rome to Addis Ababa was just fine.

Thank-you. I think I will give them a try! Mary

WOW.
My experience with Ethiopian airlines was local hoppers from Addis to Asmara.
They were DC3s with the rear door removed. The last three rows of seats on the left side was a wooden box where you dropped your bag, or chickens, whatever.

Things have changed since the 70s.

Ethiopian Airlines have been operating professionally-crewed, modern planes on a handful of intra-European routes for at least 20 years. I used to use them between London and Frankfurt, where their operations were head and shoulders above what the British, German and American airlines on the route offered.
