Estimated cab fair FCO to Piazza Navona area

We are dropping our rental car off at the airport when we arrive in Rome. I know we can take the train to Termini then get a train to the area of our hotel. But quite honestly I'm not sure I want to schlep and deal with the hassle. Additionally, I've read many of you use LimoServiceRome.com but since we are driving we will not have an exact arrival time.
So does anyone have an idea on taxi costs? or have any other ideas?
thanks!

Marci - The normal going rate is approx. €50. But ...

N.B - BE SURE to fix a price before getting in.

[Last year a number of FCO taxi drivers were investigated for running a scam - charging foreigners up to €200 into the city centre].

It still happens :( You have been warned.

Hope this helps ...

how many of you are there and how many bags? That will make a difference. We called a van/taxi for the 5 of us all with luggage from that area to the airport and it was 60 euro plus a nice tip.

Thanks for the info.

There are just two of us. We each have a back pack and and rolling carryon sized bag.

Must you drop off at the airport? Have you looked into a Termini drop-off?

For whatever reason Termini was not an option.
