why? so you can watch the idiotic game called American Football?

hey now, I happen to be a fan of college footaball and will be overseas during all the bowls. I think it's a valid question and instead of insulting him, you should just give a direct answer.

ESPN directly from the US is available on Telstar12 at 15 deg West on Ku band all over Europe. However, it's scrambled in "PowerVu". Why don't you ask them directly? There are only few people interested in watching it, however. Except for ESPN classic or the arab Version (encoded as well) there is no european ESPN afaik.

ESPN is not generally available in Europe, I don't know many cable or satellite pay TV multiplexes that carry it. As the other poster said the feed is available but encrypted, probably available at US military bases, embassies and the occasonal hotel. Perhaps check with a big deluxe US chain. Many other sports TV channels in Europe, main emphasis is on soccer of course.

Oh I forgot, usually the superbowl is screened somewhere in most major cities, I have been to one which started at 4am in Singapore, my team lost though and I was was smashed all day. No college bowls though. By the way to all those negative posters, whats wrong with Gridiron Football? Its made for TV, is ideal for armchair generals and was the favourite recreation of the late Pres Nixon, who liked to call in plays to the coach of the Redskins (no guessing that they were at the bottom of the league in that era). Of course if you haven't lived in America, well its too hard to grasp.

Available on public (state) TV in Austria. Dual language on any austrian TV or on pay TV in Germany in most bars. In France?, I don't know.

I doubt it, I was just there ands stayed in a apartment with full cable TV and the only two English channels I got were BBC and CNN.

The channels are "ORF1" and "ORF2" in Austria and "Premiere Sport" in Germany. You need to figure out how to change audio on the receiver/TV set. All the channels mentioned above broadcast it in "dual language" German AND English at the same time. If you're in a bar you can always ask if the're willing to chnge audio tracks. Most likely they will agree. :-)
