Èeský Krumlov
My brother and I really want to go here when we visit Prague this summer. Should we take the bus or the train? Which would be better? I thought it would be best to spend 3 days in Prague, then go to CK for 1 day, then visit my friend in Brno for 2 days, then on to Austria. Does this plan sound good?

The trains don't link C.K. to B. in an efficient manner, it's via Prague and takes a whole day.
Better make a trip from P. to B. and back to P., then on to C.K. and then across the order (and while you're that close, try to make it to nearby Passau - look it up, it's very special). WK |
Better to take the bus, more efficient than train in Czech. It is about 5hr. from CK to Brno, with a change in Ceske Budejovice.
Time table for train/bus http://jizdnirady.atlas.cz/connform.asp?tt=J&cl=E5 It automatically chooses train or bus according to your destination. |
Perhaps you should consider joining a day tour from Prague to Cesky Krumlov. The bus trip should take approx an hour+ but the tour will invariably include lunch and entry to the castle which is the main attraction in CK.

An hour???????????? Try THREE hours by bus from Prague to Cesky Krumlov. I've done it, sweetie. Pack two bottles of gin for the long ride.

When you will be in Brno visit town Mikulov (www.mikulov.cz). Mikulov is historical town It is between Brno and Viena and the connection by bus from Brno and to Viena is very well. In Mikulov you can taste the best wine from Moravia and visit wine cellars.

From Prague take the train to Ceske Budovice, from there take a cab from Ceske Budovice to Cesky Krumlov. That will save you about 45 minutes. You can also exit the country from Ceske Budovice...from the train station you take a bus to the border, then board the train (in our case to Vienna). This was a few years ago, but I doubt that you'll need to return to Prague.

I would also like to go to Cesky Krumlov when I’m in Prague. I kind of wanted to take a train or bus there and travel on my own. the website was hard to read, but there isn’t a direct train or bus to C.K. do you think it would be easier to take a day tour there? If so what kinds of tours go to Cesky Krumlov, any recommendations?
