Er..how do I make a URL a hypetext link in a post?

Sorry this is not related to Europe travel but this is probably the most active forum so thought I'd post here for the fastest answer.

For more a more convienient way to share links, I'd like to make URL's clickable hypertext links in posts. I've seen it done on the board but not sure how to do so.

Thanks very much.

Hi, I noticed it works for fodors postings, you just have to copy and paste the address but not for another website.
I'd like to know too then

I think Ira posted this a while back:

< Message: Hi all,

Often folks top a useful thread for someone. However, the topped thread can easily disappear on a busy day.

I suggest that you copy a link to the other thread on the thread of interest.

You can do this by going to the "target" thread, RIGHT clicking on the title, clicking "copy short cut", going back to the original thread, posting a reply, and keying "CTRL + V" to paste the link.

Hope this helps ...

aha. I see. I guess it doesn't work for external URL's. Typing HTML into a post doesn't seem to work either.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have offer people the cut and paste version.

Thanks for your answers.

Correct Fodors not not permit hot links to sites off Fodors.

Probably a good thing. Spammers would start making lots of posts to include the url's of their commercial sites.

I don't follow that. The same constraints that prevent spammers from posting their URL as text would pertain. HTML is allowed over at Frommers, and they don't seem to have any problem. I use it a lot to illustrate a point.

But there are a few standard tags that can be used here (and some invented by Fodor's), such as

<B>
<I>
<U>
<S>
<BLUE>

Is there a way to copy from my Favorites in Internet Explorer all the hyperlinks in a folder, and paste them into an e-mail, without doing it individually? I'd like to send someone all the 100+ hypelinks re Czech travel that I gathered, but I don't want to do it one at a time, times 100

Sure. Right-click the folder, select "Send to | Mail recipient" and the whole folder will be attached to an e-mail.

Hi lucky,

For links that are not Fodors threads, highlight the URL in your browser window, then copy with CTRL+C, go to your post and paste with CTRL+V.

You will need two open windows to do this.

Sorry, shouldn't have demonstrated using Fodors - they've always been active urls.

Try this... http://tinyurl.com/cnbuf

In the past (like until a few hours ago) only links to pages on Fodors' own site were clickable. Now all hyperlinks are.

If it was red, maybe somebody put in the HTML tabs for color, same as we use for <b>bold</b> or <i>italic</i> - &lt;xx&gt; and &lt;/xx&gt; before and after the text, where xx = b for bold, i for italic, u for underlined, etc. For colors it's red, or blue, etc. and you can nest them, e.g. <i><b><font color="red">bold italic red</font></b></i>.

I just noticed that the links are now &quot;hot&quot; too. Sensible change.

. . &quot;Is there a way to copy from my Favorites in Internet Explorer all the hyperlinks in a folder, and paste them into an e-mail, without doing it individually . .&quot;

In Internet Explorer . . click on File . . Import and Export . . select Ecxport Favorites . . navigate to the folder that containes the shortcuts and export to a file . . Then attach that file to an email . . the recipient will then have to import them.

Hope this helps . . Rich
