Enterprise Car Rentals
Just booked a Small Full Size(Ford Mondeo) in Dublin for 11 Days for 188.00 Euros, includes VAT, Road Tax and Airport Pick-up Fees. Priced all the others and this is a good deal as it is for an Automatic. Would be travellers might want to check out the site.

You got this from the enterprise.com website? I can't find anything cheaper than almost three times that on their website, for an automatic.
And I cannot find any info on a quote for insurance without actuly booking and entering my name and info. Keep in mind that the insurance you may have available through a credit card will not be honored in Ireland.
Best wishes,
Rex

Rex,
Try enterprise.com and then put in Ireland from the main page at the top. Select Dublin and then put in Class E. Make sure you pick up at Dublin Airport as the other Dublin locations are much more expensive.

Rex,
At first I thought it might be a mistake, but I put in my dates for November and got the vehicle, which goes for 75 euros a week, we have it for 11 days. Received my confirmation. Haven't paid anything, just a reservation, and we will be using the Mastercard Platinum as in the past. I also noticed they were asking the same price for either an auto or a manual. After having driven in Ireland on 8 previous vacations and always going with the manual I jumped on the Auto. The Mondeo is quite a nice vehicle for 4 people and 4-5 small suitcases.i

Okay, for November, I see what you mean. Sounds like a good deal.
Note that it says:
" Non-Irish residents must purchase collision damage waiver unless proof of coverage can be confirmed at the time of rental. Irish residents must purchase collision damage waiver unless proof of comprehensive insurance can be confirmed at the time of rental. Please be advised: not all credit cards provide car hire coverage in the Republic of Ireland. Please call your local branch at (01) 844 5848 for more information. Additional surcharges, local taxes, etc. may apply."
So, I guess call the issuer of your Mastercard, and see if they cover Ireland. Many, many posts here insist that routinely, the answer is no.

Have used the Mastercard Platinum in Ireland and actually had to make a claim this past year through the Master Car care program. A small crunching of the left door panel, no biggie in USA, but 750.00Euros over there. Everything went well, I was charged right after I returned home on my statement. Contacted MC and they paid all but the VAT charge for the damages. Can't complain as everything was on the up and up. Had rented through Kemwel,(they use Europcar over in Dublin)biggest headache was waiting for all the paperwork to be processed through Europcar and on to MC. Will continue to use the MC, and we always get a letter stating that we are covered in Ireland. Cheers

Hey Limey, thanks for the heads up on Enterprise. I have an trip to the UK in a couple weeks, had a reservation with another outfit but the Enterprise price for an automatic (Class E) is cheaper than the manual I had reserved elsewhere.
About the CDW, I checked with my CC and they do cover England. However, Enterprise wants written verification so the CC company is sending me a letter saying I'm covered.
Great tip! Thanks so much.
