We have been listening to Nostalgie while in Paris for many years, so I was thrilled to discover that I could tune in at home a few years ago. I'll have to check out some of the other stations. Thanks!

Anybody know a channel for your trad French café musique (accordion, etc.)?

I have a favorite Paris radio station for jazz. Much of it is American jazz, but there is French and of course it is all french language. TSF 89.9 Website is www.tsfjazz.com I always listen to it at work and especially when I am in Paris.

on Impact FM (french chansons) I heard Aretha Franklin's "Respect", Serge Llama's "Je suis Malade", "Summer Lovin'" from Grease following by, my favourite, Dalida's "Il venait d'avoir dix-huit ans". And then the village people came on..switched over to Nostalgie for a bit!

www.radiofrance.com gives you access to all of the Radio France stations -- Inter, FIP, France Info, France Musique, France Culture, Le Mouv' and France Bleu.

Anybody who wants to learn to understand spoken French, listen to France Inter. It has informative programs all day on various subjects with people who talk normally. News bulletins every hour on the hour. If you listen to France Info, just like all news radios, they tend to talk much faster.

Thanks for the link, kerouac. I listen to french music almost exclusively; just a preference, and as a result of that my level of understanding French has skyrocketed. BUT, that link is very helpful because I need to listen to spoken rather than sung french more!

The best advice I can give anyone who is learning a language is IMMERSE yourself in it.

I have also been downloading podcasts from the Radio France website onto my iPod and listening to interviews of French authors, programs of live world music, shows reviewing French media, all kinds of goodies that almost make me look forward to getting stuck in traffic as I was last Sunday driving from Cape Cod to New York for eight hours. Spent it working on my French.
