England - New Meaning for VAT!

Just learnt from Coronation Street a new meaning for VAT - something other than Value-Added-Tax - Tracy Barlow said it was "time for some VAT - Vodka and Tonic!

Speaking of Corrie, my wife tells me the worlds oldest barmaid

Who's going to make the "hotpot's" at the Rovers now?

PalenQ Oct 17th, 2011 08:39 AM

ah yeh Betty's Hotpots - legendary - she looked healthy enough in the Canadian shows, which albeit are about 15 months behind and in which she just celebrated her 90th birthday.

PAm - thanks for that (sad) update.

She had a long career as well, starting as a popular singer in the 30s and 40s (somewhere, but I can't find it, there is a clip of her singing about "Potato Pete", the cartoon character invented to encourage people to eat potatoes during WW2).
