'What would you do if I sang out of tune, would you stand up and walk out on me'?

annhig Aug 13th, 2014 01:10 PM

Never, Pal.

An abundance of good nuggets! All, thank you once again.

Annhig: why can't we be in two places at once? Would love to hear the Britten.

If you're going to Brum, make sure you visit the Balti triangle!!!

ah yeh the curry capital of the U.K.

EYW&BTV - I frequently want to be in two places at once but it's a trick I've yet to perfect. I'm sure that the Brahms and Faure will be delightful and even I would have to confess that Well's ancient Cathedral [and the Bishop's Palace with its moat, garden and swans] is simply more beautiful than Truro's victorian equivalent.

khunwilko Aug 17th, 2014 03:08 AM

No! Leicester is the Curry capital....or is the Bradford?

but there are so many towns in UK now that can claim their own distinctive type of "curry".
(they claim the Tikka Masala was invented in Glasgow.)

but it is beyond doubt that the "Balti" curry was invented in Brum.

EYWandBTV Aug 17th, 2014 04:50 AM

OK, Balti is now on the must-do list along with improbable art at the Tate Modern and Vaughan Williams in Wells Cathedral.

Wells Cathedral Architecture is breathtaking......

khunwilko Aug 19th, 2014 07:09 PM

...probably one of the most beautiful buildings in England.

But is Wells in the six most beautiful cathedrals in Britain according to the Dily Mile?

>>But is Wells in the six most beautiful cathedrals in Britain according to the Dily Mile?<<

yes it is - did you read the full article of your link?

janisj Aug 20th, 2014 02:44 PM

BTW -- it doesn't actually say THE six most beautiful . . . it just says Six of the best.

Bien sur janis cherie! I was trying to perk interest in asking the question. Duh!

khunwilko Aug 21st, 2014 06:26 AM

by definition my statement would imply that it is as I'm saying of ALL the buildings in England it isa one of the most beautiful.
