You must of missed my earlier post.

I barrack for England in the Ashes. The Australians are far too cocky and sore losers.

I like to see them thrashed, but they will blame the weather or the umpire etc.

I think living near an attraction and not visiting it is common. "I can go there any time". Bit like a woodworker at a market. He had a sign up "I know you can make it yourself, but will you?

Peter - I was replying to the OTHER Peter!

a pro pos aussies looking for things or people to blame, have you read the latest from the aussie press? KP [and other batsmen] have allegedly been taping the edges of their bats to defeat the hot spot, never mind about the fact that if you're given out lbw, you'd want it to show if you'd hit it!

peterSale - DH went for a walk yesterday with the Ramblers up on Bodmin Moor, specifically Brown Willy. [there has been a move, strongly objected to by the locals, to change its name, would you believe?]

he reported it was nice but nothing special. in good winter weather it could be an interesting area, in bad weather, don't even think about it.

peterSale Aug 8th, 2013 12:52 AM

I saw that today, any excuse. It is just not cricket!
I missed the other Peter. I apologise. I rarely look at who says what, just the comments

What are they planning to change the Brown Willy?
Green Willy? Rocky Willy? Willy Willy? Willy Nilly?

Leave names alone. They are what they are.

In bad winter weather we will be thinking of hot ciders and cosy fires.

Actually, we will be thinking of wild windswept moors WHILST, drinking hot ciders near cosy fires!

<<<< we learnt from the champions, Peter! years of being told that we were c..p at sport, useless at cricket, aussies were best, etc. etc.

you can't begrudge us our few short hours in the sun, surely? >>>>

anne, I must confess that humility in success, or humility in defeat has often been lacking in the Australian psyche.

So we are standing by (or at least I am) for a lesson to be delivered by the English Eleven.

lol - is that a lesson in cricket that you are waiting for, Peter, or a lesson in humility?

we have a trip "up country" planned for this weekend so we will be tuning into TMS via the car radio. but then the pictures are better on radio.

hot or "mulled" cider is surprisingly good, with spices like cinnamon in it, IME.

"Bronn Wennili" was one of the alternatives suggested.

doesn't quite have the same ring, does it?

and of course the original does fit in well with the Merry Maidens.

peterSale Aug 8th, 2013 04:20 PM

I've never had hot cider, another thing for the trip report!

I suspect that it will be a lesson in cricket, with some units of
"Humility 101 - losing without complaining" added free gratis.

Hopefully the weather won't play such as role, and as for the hot-spot camer / silicon tape thing, words fail me.
