England/EPL family vacation
 

Hello. American family of 4 (2 kids both college age). Big Arsenal football fans. First time travelers to England. Looking for itinerary ideas, family lodging/travel tips, and ideas on how to nab tickets to a few EPL games (especially Arsenal) on a 10 day vacation. The thread of the trip could be centered around English football as well as art, culture and night life. We had a great experience the last time we used the forum in planning a trip to Italy. The information we received was really fun, topical, and honestly, made our trip. Thanks for the inspiration!

How are you going to do "a few" in 10 days? Games are on weekends except around Boxing Day and infrequent midweek matches.

You need to say when you're going. Arse has FOUR midweek EPL matches all year, and two are over the holidays when EPL teams play four times in 12-14 days (they play on Boxing Day and New Year's Day and the weekends).

And you're going to have to navigate the club's fan membership and other hoops to jump through to get tickets. Expect tickets to be hard to come by and costly.

Thomas cook is so very expensive!

We're still working on our travel dates and itinerary.
Seems like 2 games in 10 days is possible.
Once in a lifetime trip for us, so not too worried about the cost of tickets, more concerned about whether we can get them.

If the object is to get a genuine ticket for Arsenal match, and you are prepared to pay substantially more than the face value (around £50 or $80 each), then hospitality package from the club is your best bet. It will be several hundred pounds per person, but for that you get a meal, match host (often former player), free or cash bar (depending on package), free programme and match ticket in the hospitality section. Start studying Arsenal.com about a couple of months before the match. Remember date and time are subject to change because of live TV coverage etc. Match involving unfancied teams will be easier to get a ticket for.

Yeah, the least expensive hospitality package, even for a stiff opponent like Burnley, is 510 quid per. That's 2040 for a family of four, or about $3300.
