England - Cheddar (or Wells) TO Bristol

Hi there,

Is there a train that travels FROM, Cheddar, (could do Wells too) TO Bristol? We wish to travel Friday May 18th departing around 4:30pm.

Chelz - are you familiar with a modern invention known as google? [it's a search engine, into which you can put things such as " train timetables in the uK"]

ok, i'm not being particularly helpful, but if you had done any research AT ALL, you'd know that there are no stations at either Cheddar or Wells.

your best bets are Castle Cary [pretty useless actually] or Weston super mare, which is much better. Here's the timetable for you date and time:

http://www.thetrainline.com/buyticke...mand=TimeTable

possibly next time, do a bit of your own research?

Trains to Cheddar stopped running many years ago.

There are regular buses from Wells to Bristol. There is also a bus service every hour between Wells and Weston super Mare via Cheddar. Between Weston super Mare and Bristol, there is a choice of both bus and train, both regular and frequent.

For bus timetables, go to www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/bristol_bath/. For train times, go to www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk/Default.aspx

OK -- I'm curious how you will have got TO Cheddar or Wells in the first place? There are no trains so presumably you are driving or taking a bus . . . whichever it is, you can take the same mode to Bristol.

As someone else said, there is a bus service between Bristol and Wells. I have used it. The bus stop I went from is just around the corner from Bristol Temple Meads station. Can't remember exactly what the frequency was but I think it was pretty regular.

Attention snappy ppl: For your information I did google this and it is unfortunate that the search engine results do not come up with the simple words" THere are no train stations @ wells or Cheddar" On the chance that that I was not searching on the appropriate sites I thought I'd reach out to those who are MORE FAMILIAR, or those who may have personal knowledge. Please do not assume that what may seem as common knowledge to locals, may not be the same to tourists.

Janisj: a friend is driving me to Cheddar where we will spend the day, then said friend, is going HOME (different direction) If only life were as simple as the world you must live in

Re: bus info, thank you that helps a lot!

Chelz: Where is s/he going home to? That might be your answer -- either a train from that town, or one on the way there.

If you give us some details - then we can help.

Great - Castle Cary works. It is about 10 miles from Wells on the way to Yeovil and has frequent trains to Bristol

Sadly, not that frequent. Trains on that date from Castle Cary leave at 16:10 and 18:54, arriving Bristol Temple Meads at 17:29 and 20:08 respectively.

Buses from Wells leave at 16:50, 17:20 and 18:20, arriving at Temple Meads about 55 minutes later.

Given your 16:30 desired departure time, bus wins.

yep, that's what this snappy unhelpful poster said the first time.

it's not actually that difficult to find out where train stations are - go to the trainline website, and use the "station finder" function.

yes this is a forum for helping people, but it's easier to help people who have helped themselves a bit first. posters seeking help should , IMHO, post what researches they have done themselves and enough information for us to be able to respond appropriately.

neither of which the OP did.

I apologize for letting you down Annhig. I thought I was keeping it simple and informative, anyways I know better now and will try to do you proud next time!

Funny, I just used your "google" just now. I typed in "FORUM BULLY" and your picture came up!

Have a nice day

The OP has her answer.

Hopefully this thread can end, and Annhig could work on being a little less cranky and chelz7676 could grow a little bit thicker skin.

Or maybe they will just join up and attack me?

what for, Ron? you didn't start a thread with minimal information!

perhaps i have read too many threads where the OP simply says "i'm want to get from x place to y place - how do I do it?"

instead of "I've been trying to find out if there is a station at x as i need to get to y on...i have looked at [z website and a website] but can't work out...."

That way we know what they need to know and what they have already done so we don't waste time re-inventing the wheel.

is that so much to ask?

Thanks again for the bus information everyone.
