"Engineering work" on UK train out of London: how big a deal?
Our most convenient London-Chesterfield train has a little notation at bottom of the nationalrail.co.uk table: "Engineering work affecting East Midlands Trains services." Period.
Any clue what that might mean in practical terms? Would you go for another train?

It can mean anything at all, and usually clicking on the message will tell you more. It might mean you're rerouted, it might mean you're going to be ten minutes slower than usual or it might mean you get bussed part of the way
Generally, the timetable on that site for the day and journey concerned will have been adjusted for the planned work. If you're geting bussed, it'll show the journey as a 2 or 3 stager.

Thank you, wrrllw. Very helpful. Per your link, on that day:
"Trains to and from London St Pancras may be retimed, running up to 33 minutes earlier / later than normal"
So no big deal atall.
