endodontist in Munich?
I know it's a long shot, but does anyone know of a good endodontist in Munich? English-speaking preferred, in order to facilitate technical communication. My bother is there on an extended business trip and has an abscessed tooth. thank you!

Paige, who lives in Munich, is a frequent Fodors poster. The e-mail address she uses on the board is [email protected]. Under this circumstance, she probably wouldn't mind if you e-mailed her directly. She may be able to direct you to an endodontist or to a dentist who could refer your brother.

Good luck
Also I would contact the ADA, they should be able to help. And perhaps his dentist at home could possibly fax a prescription for an antibiotic and a pain pill. Most of the time after a couple of days on the antibiotic, it relieves the pain from the infection and he can hold out till he gets back home.

Call the US Embassy and ask for a referral, or the nearest military installation and ask them for a referral. Many DRs are bilingual, but an abcess is prettty obvious and relief should be easy to obtain, He can also ask at the hotel front desk. I had a crown fall off and had to use a german dentist, my landlord found him for me. The care was great and cost was minimal.

As for the above post about faxing a prescription from a US doctor to be filled in another country where said Dr. does not exist....Common sense will tell you that you cannot fill a prescription written in one country at a pharmacy in another one....

Here's the dentist I've been to:
Dr. Ulrich Zimmermann
tel 297-711
He's German but speaks very good English, is a very nice guy and seems to be a really good dentist.
|
I've heard that German dentists don't always use novacaine like they do in the states, so your brother might need to ask for it.

thanks everyone for the most excellent advice, which I passed along to my brother. This afternoon he advised me that the deed (root canal) is done, but didn't mention which dentist he used.

thaks again, you're great!

sandy why bother to give dental advice when youo do not have a clue. in this country one cannot write a prescrption in one state and have it filled in another in most cases. just antibiotics for an abscess if inadequate and the tooth needs to be opened up for drainage or removal of the infected nerve. next time do not give advice you are not qualified to give or do not possed accurate information
