Emergency Phone Numbers
This summer, my elderly parents will be joining me on their first ever trip to Europe. There was a recent thread on medical insurance, which I've researched thoroughly now.
Maybe my optimism has never allowed me to think of having an emergency while vacationing, but do you know the 3-digit emergency code for the countries you're traveling in? For example, in the U.S., it's 911. I've now found out that in Switzerland it's 144 for medical, 118 for fire, and 117 for police. In England it's 999 or 112. I'm sure other countries have similar codes. Seems like a good thing to make note of and stick in your wallet. Happy travels! |
In France they are
Medical 15, Police 17, Fire 18 Anywhere in the EU dial 112 ((I)) |
just dial 112 everywhere as suggested. they speak multiple languages.

I've never given it any thought but you never know when you'll need it. Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks ira and casanova - Good to know that the 112 is good all through the EU.
