Email for Hotel Senato
I apologize if this is a duplicate. I posted earlier, then could not find the post. I know there have been problems with the site.

I am looking for the email address of Hotel Senato in Rome. From people who have stayed there, I am also looking for comments to the following.

I read that the rooms are being renovated, and only those on the 1st floor are done. Is that still true? What are the rooms like in decor? Plain or stylish? Carpeted or bare floors? Do any of the rooms have balconies or terraces?

Someone wrote "the tiny elevator is a prelude to the size of the rooms". Are the rooms really small?

What is the noise level since the hotel sits right on the Piazza?

Any other comments would be appreciated.
Loren

hi.. I don't have direct info about Senato, and couldn't locate anything by searching here or on rec.travel.europe. The only email I found is probably a booking agent (E-Mail [email protected]). I have read here in the past that email may not be very reliable especially for Italy, and perhaps you would be better off calling or faxing your questions. Here are those numbers, if you don't already have them.
TEL. +39 - 06-6784343
FAX +39 - 06-69940297
Good luck in your inquiries - hope someone out there can give personal recommendations...

You can book it through the Italian Web Guide
http://www.itwg.com/itw12412.asp

That site also has description, pictures, etc. Note that the full name of the hotel is Hotel Albergo del Senato.

I just stayed at the Albergo del Senato and can highly recommend it. We had a double on the 3rd floor and the room was recently renovated. The room had tile floors with oriental rugs and the ceiling had nice crown molding and paintings to give the "Italian" atmosphere. I think the rooms that face the Pantheon have balconies. We had a room in the back which was nice and quiet. The elevator was small but it had a nice, big, winding, marble entry staircase and our room and bathroom were very big. We did see some rooms that are small but we had good success with requesting a double and the rate was 430,000 lira a night. Since our room did not face the piazza, I am not sure of the noise level, but I loved the location.

I fear that I am repeating myself on three threads currently going on this hotel, but some remarks to juxtapose with those of Sue and Cecilie. In general, I had the same high opinion as Cecilie.

We stayed in room 304, and it is small-ish - - smaller, for example than the picture shown in this web site:

http://www.rentalholiday.com/hoteldelsenato

- - which, once again, seems to be a booking agent. There is no e-mail listed on the site listed above, and they might simply not have one. A little surprising - - they have a nifty flat screen computer right at the front desk.

Our window directly faced the Pantheon - - like you could almost touch the "M AGRIPPA..." - - and we perceived NO noise problem at night - - but then we didnt keep the windows open either.

Our room did NOT have a balcony - - the website listed above says that those are part of the "senior suites" (for four people) at $335 USD.

As for renovation, every room seemed freshly renovated that I saw (106, 304 and 311). They were in the midst of painting a new mural in the stair well, and adding new lighting - - non-intrusively. I suspect it will be done fairly soon, as it was sketched on the walls - - kinda cool.

At the risk of silly or flip - - I found this place by going to the Pantheon, turning around and smply walkin in the front door - - not by e-mail, nor by fax. It was Saturday morning, May 5, and I wanted three rooms for May 9 and 10, and they had 'em.

Best wishes,

Rex
Well, I'll be darn! and of course, as a corollary, http://www.albergodelsenato.it is their website. They SHOW the intention to have an English option on the site, but it doesn't work (as of tonight).

But the site looks honestly representative of the hotel.
