Eloping to Venice - Help!

My boyfriend is Italian altho he's never been to Italy. I studied art and Italian in college and have always wanted to visit. This is a first trip for both of us. It's also the 2nd marriage for both so we've decided to get married on our honeymoon trip - a weddingmoon! We have hired a wedding planner for Venice.

What do you guys think of this itinerary:

June 21 fly to Venice
June 22 arrive Venice
June 24 Get Married!
3 nights total in Venice
June 25 Train to Rome
June 28 Train to Positano
Positano 2 nights
Get Driver – See amalfi coast
June 30 – Hydofoil to Capri
3 nights in Capri
July 3 Get to Naples
July 4 Fly home

Thank you so much!

It seems a little jam-packed for a honeymoon...
Speaking from experience (Italy honeymoon in June 2004), I'd suggest you switch Rome for Florence or another hilltown in Tuscany. While I adore Rome, many people do not like it as a honeymoon city. It is huge, loud, dirty, fast-paced... just like any big city. Of course it is also very "alive", charming and magical, but I really feel that Tuscany is a better spot for a honeymoon.

For Florence you could daytrip to a winery, or spend a day visiting Sienna or a multitude of other enchanting hilltowns.

Have you looked into the requirements of getting married in Italy?

A coworker got married in Italy.
They had to be in Italy for a few days before they were allowed to be wed. My coworker said that it had to be done that way (regulations).

They stayed in the same place between arrival and the legal ceremony, but that may not be required.

Good luck
Good luck.

Hi 2,

I would skip Rome for your fairly short visit.

You can't train to Positano.

You can fly from Venice to Naples, splurge on a limo to your Positano hotel.

I don't think that you will need a driver to see the AC.

Happy honeymoon.
