Elizabeth Hotel, London Elizabeth Hotel, Elizabeth House...

Hello,

I've been researching hotels for my trip to London in June. Came across a place, Elizabeth Hotel, across from Eccleston Square and decided to do a search on the site to see if anyone had stayed there. Got reviews on, I think, all three places listed in my title. Some were positive and some were negative, but I'm trying to sort out what reviews go with what hotel. Does anyone have any specific information about the Elizabeth Hotel on Eccleston Square?
Thanks,

Patti

London Elizabeth Hotel, is a totoally different place than the Elizabeth Hotel . The London Elizabeth , where we stayed last March 2001 for a week , is quite nice and we recommend it .

Hi Patti, I posted on Rants/raves here about the Elizabeth Hotel. I did not like it, and would not recommend it, UNLESS they did a major remodeling.
Hope this helps, Judy :-)

Hi Patti
regarding the Eliz. Hotel at 37 Eccleson Sq, I looked in my
"Cheap Sleeps in London" book which is a few years old now. I haven't stayed at the hotel.
The book mentions "prime location...owner has maded some needed improvements to the hotel. Besides installing a lift (to the 4th floor)...he has redone many of the rooms. Despite redecoration attempts, the rooms would never qualify as glamorous...with some exceptions they are clean and serviceable."

Some exceptions?
I have used the "Cheap Sleeps..." books in several cities and I feel that I understand the author's style pretty well. The above description is not a rave from that author and I would not stay at that hotel based on the book and the comment above from the person who stayed there, unless there has indeed been a more recent do-over or change in management.
Try searching on these budget hotels on this message board or in the Rants and Raves section:
Morgan Hotel, or Ebury House.
I think most all comments are positive.

Thanks rus, Judy, Elaine, for your replies. It looks so nice on their website! Oh well, back to looking...

Patti

Patti, I was curious to see what their improvements were like, and I looked briefly for their web site. Do you have the URL?
Just call me "curious Judy" ;-)

Hi Judy,

Oooh, I was hoping one of you would ask! It's www.elizabethhotel.com. Please let me know if this is a different hotel than the dumpy one you stayed in!

Thanks,

Patti
Patti, I made my husband come over and look at the web site, and he said it did indeed look spruced up a bit since were there 4 years ago.
I asked him if he would recommend it, he said that the staff when we were there, were not that nice or helpful. So I guess it is up to you. Maybe find someone else who has been there recently.
They did have access to Eccleston Square(which we took advantage). The square is gated. It was quite lovely. We did have a balcony which was the best part of the whole place.
Let me know what you do, I am curious enough to walk by there this Wed, when we return to London. We are staying at the Thistle Charing Cross for a little less money than the Elizabeth.....go figure.
Judy :-)

The London Elizabeth is a real favorite of ours. You can easily access Hyde Park from there and the staff is fantastic. Why not stay there?

Hi Judy,

If you do get by there when you are in London, please let me know what you think. Kam--the London Elizabeth is beautiful but I can't afford to stay there for a week!

Patti
