Elgin Villa in Bath
My family has reservations at the Elgin Villa in Bath in late May. We have booked the family room. Has anyone else stayed here? Please tell me about the guesthouse, area and any other tips for Bath. Thanks! Laurie

Well, I didn't stay at the Elgin Villa, but since I was just in Bath last month, I can offer some tips:<BR><BR>We ate at 2 great restaurants - La Flamenca, where we ate tapas but they also had a regular restaurant menu, and a Thai restaurant that at the moment I can't recall the name. However, it is down by the Abbey, and there is another Asian restaurant across the street. Walking toward the river from the Abbey, you would turn right on a street that is only a block or 2 from the Abbey, and the Thai restaurant would be on the left side of the street only about a block down. It had "Thai" in it's name, and I think the first word started with an M. You should be able to ask around if you are really interested.<BR><BR>I enjoyed the Museum of Costume. The Roman Baths were very interesting. Look for a pub called Hobgoblins - it was a neat place. If you are just walking around the city exploring, you'll probably run into it. That's how we found it.<BR><BR>Have a great time!

My family and I stayed at Elgin Villa in the first week of April, and it was wonderful! They were very friendly, and the B & B was tasteful, clean and near the Royal Crescent (5 minute walk). They also have private parking, a "must have" in the town of Bath. In the welcome room downstairs, they have guide books and binders full of restaurant menus. I highly recommend them, and would stay there again any time! When ordering breakfast there, do not forget to try their fruit salad, it contains 12 different fruits! (Trivial, but can you imagine cutting that up day after day?)Also, her scones are quite tasty. We tried a nearby french restaurant called "A Pinch Of Salt", and it was some of the best food we have ever had. The service was slow, but the wait was worth it! We enjoyed Bath's tour bus ride, because you get a bit of history with the scenery, and can hop off when you reach the downtown area if you wish. Also, after visting the Roman Baths (which will take at the very least a couple of hours, due to crowds, and the guided audio phones you listen to)do not forget to see the Abbey next door, we did, and regret it! Have a lovely trip there!
